My Interior Design Journey...

Updated: Sep 30, 2024

I am so excited to be starting my own blog 'Interior Style Stories' all on the fabulous world of interior design and I cannot wait to get stuck in! But before sharing tips, design solutions, 'trends' and an abundance of inspiration, I wanted to give you all a little introduction into myself and where Laura Clark Interior Design all started.

From a very young age, I loved interiors. I remember choosing wallpaper and colours for my bedroom with my parents and spending the best time with my Mum, using offcuts to decorate my beautiful dolls house. Many an hour was spent at the little model shop that sold the most beautiful wooden furniture, I still have it all today and would absolutely love to find the time to redecorate it.

I have always enjoyed designing the rooms or homes I have lived in over the years and none more than the lovely little rented house in Norwich that I currently get to call home, it really has been a love story and my sanctuary. I firmly believe that even if you are not permitted to decorate a rented house, you can still invest in pieces you love and use artwork and colour in accessories and furniture to inject personality and create the perfect home!

Even with my love of interiors, I had a huge desire to be a primary school teacher and this was the career path I chose. After 12 years within the education sector, I decided to completely change direction and took the nerve wracking but ever so exciting plunge into the world of interior design! I worked for 6 years within the show home industry, designing and turning blank canvases into aspirational homes and loved the process from concept to completion. Throughout this time I honed my skills working with clients, estate agencies and suppliers and fostered my love for creating cohesive schemes, sourcing products, styling and interior photography, all of which I am so looking forward to building on.

And now to the present...Laura Clark Interior Design! This really has been an absolute dream of mine and I can't believe it has become a reality. A few years ago, when at a hen do, the idea was muted by some of my lovely friends and now here we are! I have recently graduated from Jo Chrobak's IDBS Mentorship program and have been awarded the certified mark of excellence, 'Online Design Expert' - this was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life...thank you so much Jo! Outside of the job I love you will find me spending time with my wonderful family and friends, exploring and making memories, always with a camera in my hand and enjoying a glorious cup of tea or glass of fizz!

Thank you for coming along with me on my new adventure...I really am so excited for this wonderful new chapter!
